Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. ~ Margaret Mead

More positive thought
I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any . . . crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts. ~ Abraham Lincoln
From FY 2008-09 final budget discussions with Councilors and the Budget Review Committee ...
1. Concerns raised by Morten: costs of ammunition and fuel for the Police Department
2. Councilors suggestions for cutting costs: don't replace retiring staff (other staff can do the work), increase water fees, increase taxes
3. Cut suggested by budget committee members: councilor compensation
IS THIS WHO YOU VOTED INTO OFFICE?
FISCAL IRRESPONSIBILITY ETHICAL VIOLATIONS ABUSE OF POWER
Is this what you look for in your elected officials? Do these describe the the kind of person you think you voted onto City Council in November 2006?
Reasons for recalling these councilors (as they appear on recall petitions) and sources for the statements are included in this blog.
READ! CHECK! ASK QUESTIONS! THEN YOU DECIDE: CAN WE AFFORD THESE COUNCILORS?
ASK why there are no written or recorded minutes of the Councilor Compensation Committee meetings.
ASK people who work with Doug & Phil on a daily basis (members of the City's advisory commissions and committees and city staff) what they think.
We deserve and expect more of our elected officials; let them hear that loud and clear.
THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT 2008 RECALL PETITIONS PASSED TUESDAY, OCT 28 AT 5:00 P.M
Short of the required 1200 signatures, petitions were not submitted.
Check back now and then for an update on RECALL2009.
Morten & Barlow v Sally Gump. . . the beat goes on
11-05-08 Neither Phil Barlow nor Doug Morten refiled and/or served their suits against Sally Gump. It must have just been a misunderstanding, eh?
10-27-08 Judge Steven Reed agreed with Jim Huffman's argument that there was no case filed and no summons served and therefore Sally had no basis for a motion to dismiss.
Unless and until the suits are properly filed and served by Morten, Barlow and Attorney Huffman, there is no case. Huffman has until next Monday (for Barlow) and next Tuesday (for Morten) to file amended suits and serve the summons properly.
